THIS coming weekend is a public holiday, according
to the Namibian calendar. It is known
as Easter and highly celebrated by Christians.
Non-Christians use the time to be with their
families and mostly engaging in parties.
Thus we will notice an increase in motor
vehicles on our main roads. The road traffic
laws prohibit convoys during weekends such
as this one.
You may not, on a road, operate a motor vehicle
forming part of a convoy of motor vehicles
between 18h00 on a Friday or, in the case where
such Friday is a public holiday, the Thursday
immediately preceding such Friday, and 06h00
on a Monday, or in the case where such Monday
is a public holiday, the Tuesday immediately
succeeding such Monday; and you may not,
on a road, operate a motor vehicle forming part
of a convoy of motor vehicles between 18h00
on a Friday and 06h00 on a Monday or, if such
Monday is a public holiday, the Tuesday immediately
succeeding such Monday.
