Leave it to faith and time

Home Youth Corner Leave it to faith and time

There are just times when you feel so powerless and overwhelmed by a certain situation.

People go through hard or sad moments from time to time, it is human nature. It can be a loss of a beloved one, a breakup, sickness or failing at something. Such events take a toll on us and weigh us down. Each person hits their lows at different levels and has their own ways of getting up. But there are two things that I believe works for all of us and are vital in our journey of getting back up, and these are time and faith.

Faith believes that it will be okay and being an optimist. No situation or moment lasts forever, and that is the same for bad times. Even good things come to an end. Having faith goes hand in hand with allowing yourself time to heal or make peace with the situation. It does not happen overnight and sometimes it takes longer than you thought it would. Sometimes we make the mistake of trying to get over something too quick. You are not supposed to ‘try’ to get over something. The more you think about it in your process of trying, the more you think about is and the more you give it your energy and you keep stagnated in sadness and pain. Even when you have a physiological illness and you take prescribed medication, you do not heal the next day after you have taken the medicine. It takes time to bounce back and that is what you should allow yourself to do.

Faith does not only get us through our traumas and lows, it also helps us hold onto our dreams. None of us know what tomorrow has to offer but because of faith, we stick to our plans and hope they work out. Sometimes we have big plans that everyone else around us think is a big joke, yet we go ahead with them. The drive in us to pursue the unknown is a fruit of faith. You find people who do not have faith, and these people face many challenges in life more than those who have faith. When they go through a hard situation, they become confused and destructive. They are convinced there is nothing that will make it right and that is the end of the world. When you are convinced, you start believing and what you believe becomes your reality. If you believe a curse was thrown upon you and you will be like that for ever, so be it, that what you wish for yourself and that becomes your reality. Leave it to time, time heals. When you have faith, you have one of the strongest survival tools. Even the most successful people you see everyday go through challenges but they bounce back because of faith. “Faith is seeing light with your heart when your eyes see darkness”, anonymous.
