Namibian-German artist Lize Ehlers has begun 2026 on a high note, as her single ‘Call On Me’ featuring Shafa The G.O.A.T has officially been named entry song of the year by Touch FM and again won battle of the beats on IUM Radio on 5 January 2026.

The recognition cements the track’s growing reputation as an “ancestral anthem” and highlights how many indeed resonate with the song. “There is something incredibly powerful about being seen and celebrated by your own people,” Ehlers says in response to the awards.

Call on me started from a collaboration between Shafa The G.O.A.T and Solani Glo, after which Ehlers joined the pair. While speaking to Ehlers, she recalls that the song immediately spoke to her on an emotional level.

“When they sent me the first version, I realised that strength does not always arrive loudly, sometimes it comes as a whisper,” she said. This then shape her vocal direction, giving the song a moment to unfold as a powerful beat of meditation.

The inspiration for the track stems from Ehlers’ personal experiences of solitude, “I was reflecting on moments in my life where I had to stand alone, make hard decisions, and keep moving even when certainty was not guaranteed,” she said.

During these times, she felt an unseen presence, as though she was being held by something older than herself, this feeling became central to the song’s message of ancestral support.

Heritage plays a defining role in the project, in both audio and visual aspects. The song celebrates a number of different heritages, all linked to Ehlers and Shafa, for Ehlers, Zulu and German roots.

While for Shafa his Oshiwambo and San roots.

She further describes the song as a tribute to “the resilience of Namibian women and communities who have survived displacement, silence, and erasure, yet continue to create beauty and joy.”

When it came to visuals the Namibian landscape further shaped the music video’s emotional tone “The land did most of the directing and the vastness made me feel small in the most humbling way,” Ehlers states.

“I hope they remember that they are not alone, everything they need already lives within them.” she added when asked about what she would want listeners to take from her single.
