WINDHOEK – To be recognised for outstanding achievement is one of the peak of any personality’s inspiration, and the second edition of the Simply You Magazine (SYM) held over the weekend saw up to 18 people walking away with big prizes. 
The glittery event took place at the National Theatre of Namibia (NTN) on Saturday night and saw songstress and local personality Lize Ehlers winning the biggest award, SYM Diamond Award. 

The award is given to the personality who is making an impact in the community, and Ehlers scooped it after she initiated a project titled ‘Uuyelele’, that provide lighting using a solar system to people living in the informal settlement of Ombili and nearby locations. 

Ehlers was also recognised for founding Song Night that gives a platform to upcoming artists to show their talents through live music. 

“I am so excited to win this award and I will continue to help and empower as many people as I can,” says Ehlers.
The awards also saw some new faces and seasoned professionals in the fields of fashion, wellness, theatre and TV, sports, radio and many other areas of entertainment walking away with the awards.

Emily Kandanga won in the category of Favorited Fitness Person while footballer Sadney Urikhob won in the category of Favorited Sports Person of the Year. The Best Fashion Designer category was won by Erastus Mathews, while Princess Verukiruaije won as the Best Female Model of the Year. Willem Kapenda won as the Best Male Model of the Year. 
 
Apart from that, there were also entertainment activities on offer, with Killa-B performing his classical hit songs such as Ezimo, Okuza nale and many others. Sunny Boy took the entire crowd on the dancing floor when he performed his old song Balance, while Top Cheri did not disappoint by performing her song Danisa.
