Priscilla Apollus
After the difficult year we all had, we decided that as the year ends, we want to celebrate life.
We chose to be happy and to be content with what we have in sharing our love and appreciation for each other as women coming from different cultures, different trials and tribulations, different circumstances, race and colour. We united under the umbrella of the ‘Love Yourself’ campaign to celebrate our uniqueness as women, and to encourage each other to never give up.
Life is full of surprises and obstacles, but if we stand together and hold each other, we might survive what we cannot survive if standing alone. We are united as mothers, daughters, aunts, and sisters. We see the uniqueness in each other and appreciate it.
Within the group, a lot of women went through a lot of different obstacles, but chose to live, and chose to remain positive.
We aim to spread the message of self-love by showing others that look like us, it’s okay to be you. Do you and never apologise for who you are or what you believe in. In fact, a lot of people think we spread illness and obesity. On the contrary, we spread self-love and acceptance.
What I have realised in life is if you are not happy with yourself, you will continue to search for love in all the wrong places and end up with more broken hearts and broken relationships.
If you get the balance of self-love and acceptance, then you can work on change, because it doesn’t help any change if you are not willing to dig deep and find what matters within.
You are valid and your opinions are valid; you are enough and that is what you should believe in before you can encourage others.
My essence in life is to spread self-love; it’s all I aim for and all I love doing. My journey has been tough but what inspires me is the love I received when I shared my testimony, and how many women were inspired to become fearless in loving themselves, regardless of society, race, background, colour, size.
Self-love is for restoring the peace within you. If you master self-love, you master the journey called life.
Self-love is here to stay.
