KEETMANSHOOP – The Keetmanshoop municipality yesterday shuffled some of its councillors and members of the management committee.
The reshuffled councillors are Easter Isaak, Johannes Vries and Annalize Knaus, all from the Landless People’s Movement (LPM). Isaak was the deputy mayor, and now becomes the chairperson of the management committee. Vries, who was previously the chairperson now fills the position of ordinary management committee member, while Knaus takes on the deputy mayor position previously held by Isaak.
McDonald Hanse and Fatima Jossop remain mayor and member of the management committee, respectively, while Swapo councillor Johannes Nghidinwa and Gaudentia Kröhne remain ordinary members. The proceedings were presided over by Principal Magistrate Uchen Konjore.
Approached for comment on the reshuffling, Hanse said the decision comes as a directive from the LPM head office. “The reshuffling is a way for us to be creative and strategic to ensure that we are effective as a party and that there is also accountability. We believe that it is the best alignment, and it is strategic to do it now. We keep in mind the people on the ground, and we believe they will benefit from this decision,” LPM national spokesperson Lifazala Simataa said when approached for comment. -Nampa
