During the past month, the Bank Windhoek Arts Festival has included a new feature in its programme, called The Lunch Hour SjordÃÆ’Æ‘Æ‘ÃÆ”šÃ‚©. The SjordÃÆ’Æ‘Æ‘ÃÆ”šÃ‚© is a one-hour performance presented during the lunch hour for those who would like to get a quick pick-me-up through visual and performing arts. “The SjordÃÆ’Æ‘Æ‘ÃÆ”šÃ‚© became a household name in the 1980s and 1990s and have offered popular pragrammes such as The Cantare Audire Choir, The Zululand University Choir, Grand Dad’s Dixie, Jazz Bands and various one-act drama performances over the lunch hour,” said Aldo Behrens, Coordinator of the Bank Windhoek Arts Festival. Aldo added that the name ‘SjordÃÆ’Æ‘Æ‘ÃÆ”šÃ‚©’ was derived from the sound the bottle makes when pouring wine into a glass and then presenting it to a guest. “The SjordÃÆ’Æ‘Æ‘ÃÆ”šÃ‚©s were so popular that, due to public demand, they are once again on offer at Studio 77,” added Aldo. Look out for the March SjordÃÆ’Æ‘Æ‘ÃÆ”šÃ‚© which will present Country Music by Vernon the Dream Catcher. This show is scheduled for 28, 29 and 30 March 2007 from 13h15-14:00. From April 2007, the SjordÃÆ’Æ‘Æ‘ÃÆ”šÃ‚© will be presented during “happy-hour” from 17:30 – 18:30. For more information on the Sjorde’s, please contact Aldo Behrens at 081-236-7491.
