WINDHOEK – Aspiring entrepreneurs are encouraged to seize the business opportunity presented throughout the 15 days of CAF Women Championships in Windhoek. The Local Organising Committee is specifically encouraging vendors to prepare themselves to occupy the unspecified number of stalls that would be availed to vendors on first come first served basis. The TN Mobile 9th CAF Women Championship kicks off in the capital on October 11 and runs until October 25.

The chairman of the local organising management committee, Sivhute Katamba, nevertheless cautioned that all vendors wishing to operate near the stadiums would be subjected to CAF regulations, especially those selling food items and those cooking or warming up the food near the sports premises. Vendors would be charged N$100 fee to sell inside the sport premises, which is lower than the N$200 that is usually charged to sell at local football matches.
“The games will be nothing without these vendors, we need them,” Katamba told New Era in an interview adding: “It is even cheap now for these guys, as at the local games they are normally charged a fee of N$200 per match day therefore they should be grateful and abide to the environmental regulations.”
Although not yet certain of the total number of vendors that have been made provision for during the games, Katamba said the Local Organising Committee has “already designed many stalls” to cater for the number of vendors turning up.
