Local musician Maleek Trace has dropped his latest single titled Kokule featuring Tate Buti ahead of his upcoming album, is scheduled to enter the music market end of this October.
Kokule, which literally translates ‘Stay Away’, has a Kwasa-Kwasa flavour mixed with Tate Buti’s ‘Kwiku’ rhythm. With its up-lifting melody, the song narrates and typically cautions the fictional ‘Nangula’ and young girls in general to stay awoke and distance themselves from abusive boyfriends as well as gambling addicts. Mr Glo from Solani Studio produced and mastered the album.
Maleek Trace reveals that his upcoming album titled, Moving On 06960 is a fusion of afro-pop sound blended with African melodies. “The album features Dion and Kamtonyo of PDK among others and was entirely produced by MR Glo – on the beat.
Maleek Trace is, however, not new to the music scenes. Formerly known as DJ Komotolo from the popular local radio station (Omulunga radio), he currently holds two debut albums under his belt. His music calling dates back to 2015 when Maleek Trace dropped his very first album titled, Disaster, which he pronounced as a breakthrough to launch his music career.
Since then, Maleek Trace has worked on his second project with the help of his friend ‘Kidd III’ to compile his second album titled Lord Knows. It was released in 2016. The Trap and Hip-Hop album comprise of lyrical content talking about love illusions, usual daily struggles and survival. The album is a combination of an up tempo house song Hang-Over, a soothing track – ‘Hustle’ and a spiritual slow pace song titled ‘Blessings’.
Maleek Trace is calling on fellow Namibians to support local music and pleaded for “unity in the music industry in order to build each other up”, he conclude.
