Man, 26, allegedly kills grandmother, injures Two realtives in Oshikuyu attack

A 26-year-old man with a mental illness allegedly killed his 88-year-old grandmother by hacking her with a panga. He also allegedly injured his seven-year-old nephew and 14-year-old niece yesterday at Oshikuyu village in the Ohangwena Region.

Deputy Commissioner Melanie Mburu said that after hacking his grandmother, the suspect pushed her into a fire and set her alight.

Police said the 14-year-old niece tried to assist but was hacked on the head. She later ran to the police to report the incident.

The suspect has been admitted to the psychiatric unit at Oshakati Intermediate Hospital.
