WINDHOEK – A 30-year-old man turned himself over to the police on Saturday and confessed to slitting his girlfriend’s throat during a domestic dispute in one of the flats belonging to the Paulinium Theological College, in Windhoek’s Pioneers Park Extension 1.
The deceased, who resided in the flat with the boyfriend, was a 32-year-old woman from Botswana.
Paramedics tried to save her life, but she succumbed to her wounds at about 17h30 on Saturday.
According to members of the City Police who arrived on the scene, the room, kitchen and bathroom of the flat were covered in blood as the deceased was apparently dragged across the floor before she was left in a pool of blood at the entrance.
The suspected killer apparently ran from the flats towards Pioniers Park’s Coetzee Street Cellars from where he called the police to inform them about the heinous crime.
When New Era arrived on the scene the Emergency Rescue team of the Windhoek City Police secured the area against unwanted intrusion. Students of the Paulinium college gathered in big numbers and just stared in disbelief. No one apparently heard or saw anything that happened over the midday hour.
