Rundu – A 34-year-old man from Kavango was arrested on a charge of murder on Friday.

The arrest by the Kavango East Police comes in the wake of an incident in which the suspect severely assaulted a woman who died from the injuries she sustained in the beating.

“The woman died at home; she was not taken to hospital after she was assaulted. The man is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow (Monday),” said Detective Chief Inspector Chrispin Mubebo of the police in Kavango East Region.

It was reported last Wednesday that at about 22h00 the suspect used a stick to assault the deceased on the abdomen and as a result the victim died lon Friday.

The beating took place at about 06h00 at Causa village, south of Ndonga village.

According to Detective Chief Inspector Mubebo, both the deceased and the suspect were under the influence of acohol and insulted each other, which led to the suspect severely assaulting the woman.

The deceased was Identified as Theresia Naitha Hausona,28, a Namibian female.
