A 49-year-old man has been arrested after he allegedly stabbed his 38-year-old wife to death in full view of the public at Omanyanga village in Oshikoto region.
According to Oshikoto head of community policing sub-division and regional spokesperson, chief inspector Ellen Nehale-Kangulu, the incident happened at around 14h00 on Monday at the village cuca shops.
The deceased has been identified as Kristofina Hainyanyula, a resident of Omanyanga village.
It is alleged the suspect who cannot be named until he makes an appearance in court, pulled out a kitchen knife and stabbed his wife, who was in the company of her mother, several times in the chest and back, killing her instantly.
The police reported that eye-witnesses said the suspect did not exchange any words with the deceased before he stabbed her.
The police further said the couple had a history of domestic violence and marital problems, which were due to be heard before the traditional authority court at Omanyanga village the following day.
The suspect was arrested shortly after the incident and is scheduled to appear before the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court today.
