Man hacked to death

Keetmanshoop – A 26-year-old man was hacked to death with a panga (machete) early Sunday morning at around 02h00 at Keetmanshoop after he was involved in a quarrel.

The deceased died after he was hacked with a panga several times in the head at TransNamib’s Electrical Workshop near Noordhoek residential area.

It is alleged the suspect and the victim had a quarrel and the suspect together with his dogs chased the deceased, and caught up with him at TransNamib Electric Workshop where the suspect hacked him with a panga in the head several times, with his two dogs also biting the deceased.

A 40-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder and is expected to appear in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate’s Court today charged with the crime.

In another near fatal incident at Rosh Pinah’s Big Brother location, 27-year-old Michael Singer was stabbed with a knife on the left side of the chest on Friday night following an argument.

The stabbing took place at around 22h00.

It is alleged the victim and the suspect had a quarrel and the victim pushed the suspect, which prompted the suspect to take out a knife and stab the victim.

The victim was briefly treated at Rosh Pinah Hospital, before being transferred to Lüderitz Hospital.

The victim’s condition is reported to be serious, but stable. Police investigations into the matter continue.
