Man kills partner in fit of jealousy

A jealous man allegedly stabbed her 28-year-old girlfriend to death after suspecting her of infidelity. The woman was murdered in front of her siblings and child on Thursday at Omaruru’s Ozondje location. She was identified as Magdalena !Gawises. The 35-year-old suspect was arrested and is expected to appear in the local court today. Erongo’s crime investigations coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu on Saturday told journalists the suspect allegedly accused the victim of cheating. “He got jealous and accused the deceased of cheating with some boys whereby he stabbed her twice with a knife,” Iikuyu explained. !Gawises, according to Iikuyu, was stabbed in the back, while her siblings and child watched in horror how she died minutes after the stabbing. He added the suspect will appear on a charge of murder read with the provisions of the Domestic Violence Act. !Gawises is the third person who has lost her life due to domestic violence in a matter of two weeks in the Erongo region. Last week Monday, Annalie Bees (26) appeared in the Walvis Bay Magistrate’s Court after she stabbed her boyfriend Adolf Naibab at their home following an argument. “It is not clear why they were arguing but the suspect allegedly took a knife and stabbed the deceased in the inside of his left thigh,” Iikuyu explained. A week earlier to that incident, a woman was also stabbed to death in Kuisebmond by her boyfriend after she allegedly ended their relationship. The boyfriend hanged himself.
