RUNDU – A 51-year-old man has been arrested by the Namibian Police after he allegedly shot and killed another man with an arrow on Saturday evening at Tjeye village.
This place is some 40km east of Rundu in the Mashare constituency, Kavango East region.
The suspect, whose identity is known to New Era but cannot be revealed before he appears in court, is also a resident of Tjeye village.
It is alleged that the deceased was shot with an arrow once on the left side of his chest, and died on the spot.
The police said the suspect and the deceased were allegedly drinking together, whereafter a quarrel erupted between them at the shebeen. The deceased left the shebeen after they were separated by the people who were drinking with them.
“The suspect also left to go home. However, on the way, they started arguing again. The suspect had a bow and arrow with him, and in the process shot the deceased once in the chest, and died on the spot. The suspect was arrested. The deceased was identified as Maseka Florian Sihami,” said Kavango East crime investigations coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Bonifatius Kanyetu.
“The body of the deceased was taken to the Rundu State mortuary, pending a post-mortem. Police investigations continue,” he added.
