WALVIS BAY – A Narraville woman (31) was left heavily traumatised after being allegedly raped on Monday by a man who had served a 10-year sentence for rape earlier.
Chief Inspector Ileni Shapumba said, the man, who was recently released from jail, committed suicide on
Tuesday.
The suspect hanged himself in a garage, and was positively identified as the perpetrator.
The deceased, 38, cannot be identified, but he and the victim were sharing the same residential address.
He was residing in the main house with an uncle, from whom the woman was renting a flat.
Shapumba, said the deceased allegedly called the woman to assist him with closing a window that usually gets stuck.
“After they closed the window, the suspect locked the house door, grabbed the woman by her neck and pushed her down into the bathroom, where he had sexual acts with her under coercive circumstances,” he said.
The suspect then threatened to kill himself if the woman reported the incident.
The victim, however, informed someone who called the police when she returned to her flat.
“The victim was found in a terrified condition by the police, and was taken to hospital for a medical examination. However, the suspect was nowhere to be found on Monday,” Shapumba narrated before adding that: “On Tuesday around 15h00, the police attended to a suicide incident reported at the same house where the rape incident took place.”
