A 20-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday after allegedly stabbing his friend to death at Onkaankaa village in the Otamanzi constituency of the Omusati region.

According to Omusati police commissioner Titus Shikongo, the incident occurred during the night. It is reported that the suspect and deceased were arguing over the deceased›s dogs. Shikongo said both men became angry, allegedly causing the suspect to slap the deceased with an open hand on the face.

As a result, the deceased allegedly also tried to fight back. The suspect then drew an Okapi knife, and stabbed the deceased once on the left side of the ribs.  The deceased died on the spot as a result.  He was identified as Joseph Ndaenda Ongula Claudino, a 31-year-old Angolan from Ombuba village in Angola.  He was employed as a cattle herder at Onkaankaa village, and his next of kin have been informed.

The deceased’s body was transported to the Okahao police mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
