KEETMANSHOOP – A man stabbed his brother to death with a knife at Tses in the morning of Friday after an argument between the two.
It is alleged that the suspect stabbed Josef Baisako, 32, with a knife in the neck, and the victim was rushed to the Tses clinic but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Although the police could not confirm what had caused the argument between the two brothers, which led to the stabbing, New Era understands that the two brothers had allegedly argued over a cigarette.
The suspect was arrested and is expected to appear in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate’s Court today, and police investigations into the case continue.
On Friday, at Rosh Pinah, the body of a decomposed baby was discovered in a public toilet at Tutungeni informal settlement, and police told New Era that it appears that the baby was dumped there a few days ago. No one has been arrested yet.
In a separate incident, an Aussenkehr resident was shot in the leg on Sunday morning after he allegedly stole a solar panel valued at N$1,500 from the roof of a house.
The homeowner, who has not been arrested, allegedly shot the suspected thief in the lower part of the right leg with a pistol, after the thief had removed the solar panel from the roof. The person sustained injuries on the leg and was taken to the Karasburg State Hospital, where he is receiving treatment and is said to be in a stable condition.
At Aroab village, a suspect aged 26 was arrested for possession of 29 quarters of Mandrax and one pellet of dagga during a police search, and the suspect is expected to make his first court appearance today.
Meanwhile, at Keetmanshoop a driver of Formula Couriers Services’ Keetmanshoop branch allegedly bumped two pedestrians who were walking along the road at about 02h50 on Saturday at Tseiblaagte.
He then allegedly swerved off the road and drove through the yards of two houses situated near the road, but drove away from the scene of the accident.
The victims, Naftal Ameya and Leonie Dirkse, sustained slight injuries, while the 44-year-old driver did not sustain any injuries.
The driver was arrested and is to appear in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate’s Court today on charges of reckless or negligent driving, driving under the influence and failing to stop the vehicle at the accident scene.
