RUNDU – A 41-year-old man who on Friday night allegedly shot another man in the face with a pistol, was granted bail of N$3 000 when he appeared in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Gabriel Tjamba Kambinda, who is now facing an attempted murder charge, read with assault, as well as discharging a firearm in a public place and negligent handling of a firearm, was arrested on Friday night after he allegedly shot Simon Malyu Muhepa in the face with intent to murder him at Simanya village in Kavango West.

Kambinda, whose case was postponed to 21 November, appeared before Rundu magistrate Murray Shikongo.

Public prosecutor Variety Matamata represented the State in the matter.

“It is alleged that the 39-year-old Namibian male victim, who is admitted at Nankudu State Hospital, in a serious but stable condition, was shot with a pistol on the left side of the face, while walking alongside the road with his two brothers and an argument erupted which resulted in the shooting,’’ reads a police report.
