WINDHOEK – Standard Bank has appointed Zweli Manyathi as the chief executive officer for personal and business banking for Africa. He will be responsible for leading the development and execution of growth strategies to achieve profitability across business and personal segment lines in 13 African countries, including Namibia, where Standard Bank is operating.
“Manyathi’s leadership and experience will be immensely valuable in providing strategic direction to our Rest of Africa Personal and Business Banking operations. He will be critical in guiding our growth strategy and developing our business offering further in key markets,” said Peter Schlebusch, the Head of Personal and Business Banking International at Standard Bank.
Manyathi will be utilising the expertise of a talented and experienced team across the group’s business areas and making use of the vast footprint which Standard Bank has built across the continent. He has been with Standard Bank since 2009, and most recently as Head of Business Banking in South Africa where he led a portfolio of businesses including Vehicle and Asset Finance, Cash and Card Acquiring, Business Products, Business Lending, segments such as Public Sector, Franchising, Agribusinesses, Small Enterprises, Business and Mid-Corporate Segments.
Since joining the group he has been instrumental in furthering Standard Bank’s successes in the rapidly expanding Personal and Business Banking Division both in South Africa and on the continent.
Standard Bank now has 3,6 million personal and business banking customers in Africa (excluding South Africa), according to results from the last six months ended 30 June, 2013.
