Maria shows support to the LGBTQI+ community

Maria Nepembe has shown love and support to the LGBTQI+ community once again, as they continue to fight the battle against homophobia in the country.

The LGBTQI+ community has been calling on same-sex marriages to be legalised and laws decriminalising homosexuality to be
scrapped in the country.

This has since sparked a heated online debate, as this issue is currently in court, with hopes from the LGBTQI+ community that homosexuality will soon be decriminalised in Namibia.

Amid homosexual people being brutally murdered in several parts of the world in corrective rape incidents, people have been advocating for the LGBTQI+ community, calling on people to denounce homophobia and the government to protect them.

Taking to her Instagram account, Maria shared a picture where she is posing with Reinhard Mahalie and Rodelio Lewis, and showered them with love by writing: “Sending all my love and support to the LGBTQI+ community in Namibia. You deserve to live freely in an independent Namibia”.

Maria recently opened up about having to stand up against homophobes who spewed their homophobia on her loved ones. She said her loved ones were assaulted and the police did not intervene.

I’ve had my loved ones attacked and not protected by the police because of their sexual orientation. Constantly having to stand up for my friends when they are being harassed and called homophobic slurs. Also putting my safety at risk. This is personal. Y’all can’t phase me. FO!

Guys, this is not a debate about avocado being trash or not. These are real human beings. Your homophobic opinions put people’s lives in danger. You want people to live according to your terms. Is it crack?” she questioned. – nalebrity.com
