MARIENTAL – Members of Global United Football Club are to meet former football greats in the mould of Lolo Goraseb, George Hummel, Charles Ortman, Apies Rooi and Abel Kaifanua and others in the southern town of Mariental for the 2014 FNB Global United Climate Kick game on the 3rd of next month.
Vicky Muranda, Corporate Communications Manager at FNB Namibia said this year’s exhibition match promises to be an exciting tie.
“We are overwhelmed by the enthusiasm demonstrated by the Mariental municipality as they are pulling out all stops to involve the town’s inhabitants in the upcoming, great event,” Muranda said, adding that event organizers have been advised of various activities to be conducted under their auspices and the theme of – ‘let’s use our resources wisely’ and of course the main match in the evening at 18h30.
This year’s Global United team will feature some new faces that include former Brave Warriors defender Oliver Risser, Martin Driller who played for Borussia Dortmund, FC St Pauli and FC Nürnberg and a midfielder from Ireland Terry Phelan.
Another highlight will be the presence of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim vice president Kristian Baumgartner.
Chairman of Global United Namibia, Harald Hecht said they are always happy to welcome those who have been part of this noble venture before, as it shows true dedication and devotion on their side.
