President of the Namibia Football Association (NFA) Frans Mbidi, who was recently appointed by Fifa as member of the U/17 World Cup Organising Committee, says he aims to plough back all the expertise he will gain as member of the World Cup committee.
Since taking over at NFA, Mbidi has proven a credible and responsible leader in his own right and his hard work has definitely not gone unnoticed, as he recently received a communiqué from FIFA Secretary-General Jerome Valke, informing and congratulating him on his appointment as one of the members of the Under-17 FIFA World Cup Organising Committee panel.
Mbidi also joined the Confederation of African Football (CAF)’s Interclub Competitions Organising Committee, headed by CAF President Issa Hayatou of Cameroon, as well as Irvin Khoza of South Africa in the 25-member committee. The CAF Interclub competitions include the CAF Champions’ league, CAF Confederations Cup as well as the CAF Super Cup.
“These appointments don’t come easy and again this is a way of reminding us that what we do is not just for us, but for the world and the continent at large. The aim is to recognise [our work] and involve us in sharing and learning more, while also moving the game of football forward locally and globally. We have a responsibility of upholding good governance and fair play in our interactions and we will continue to do that”, Mbidi said.
Meanwhile, former NFA President John Muinjo’s wealth of football experience continues to be utilised by CAF, as he was again re-appointed to serve on the CAF Women’s Championship Organising Committee, which will be chaired by Leodegar Tenga of Tanzania.
NFA Secretary-General Barry Rukoro also forms part of the 22-men CAF delegation for the All-Africa Games underway in Congo. Rukoro will be a General Match Coordinator for Men’s Football at the 50th edition of the continental sports games.
