The police are investigating more than 12 cases of murder, attempted murder and suicide –all occurring around the past weekend. At Khorixas, a man was seriously injured and admitted to the hospital after being stabbed with a knife in the stomach. The incident occurred on Saturday around 20h50 at the Donkerhoek location.
“It is alleged that two brothers, the victim and suspect, were arguing about meat and a fight broke out between them when the younger brother, the victim, slapped the suspect. The 56-year-old Angolan male suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim in the stomach to the right side. The victim sustained a serious injury and was taken to Khorixas state hospital by ambulance. The victim was later transferred to Katutura hospital in a critical but stable condition,” the crime report stated.
In Ongwediva, 19-year-old Leonard Nghilifa Paulus drowned while he was swimming in an earth dam.
At Ondangwa, murder and attempted murder cases are being investigated after 29-year-old Paulus Wilhelm Tangeni died after he was shot with a pistol by his father. He died on the spot.
The incident occurred on Saturday at about 21h00 at Iitananga village, Okaku constituency.
It is alleged that the victim came home while the family were sleeping, knocked and demanded to be given a cellphone charger, which was given to him by his mother.
The report further stated that after he was given the charger, the victim refused to go to his room and had a scuffle with the mother as well as his female neighbour.
His father fired four rounds towards the victim with his licensed private pistol. The shots killed the victim instantly and injured the female neighbour. The 57-year-old Joseph Paulus was granted bail of N$4 000 after he appeared in the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
He said his son regularly abused him and also assaulted his mother, demanding money and threatening her. At Gochas, on Saturday, at around 19h00 a 35-year-old man was arrested after being accused of stabbing and seriously injuring a 39-year-old woman in the head and back with a pocket knife.
The victim sustained an open wound and the knife blade got stuck in the head. The police said the victim was taken to a clinic where the blade fell off while she was receiving treatment. At Outjo, on Saturday between 01h00 and 05h00, opposite the Herero Mall dumping area, a man got arrested for stabbing the victim on the left side of the chest with a knife.
The victim is admitted to Outjo state hospital due to serious injuries, but he was reported to be in stable condition.
At Onayena on Friday at around 18h00 at Onakiidhi village Ontananga in the Olukonda constituency, the lifeless body of Jeremia Nakale, of unknown age, was found in the bushes after he went missing on Thursday 24 November 2022.
His next of kin were informed.
