Bustar Tommy was born in Angola (Lubango) and grew up in Namibia. He started playing music in 1999 with Omidi d’Afrique as a drummer. In 2003 he formed a group of vocalists called ICE J Family, with Nathan Haininga, but was still part of Omidi d’Afrique. In 2004 Haininga and Tommy were joined by two brothers Isak Thomas and Fillemon Shiweda and invented a new name for the group: Bustar Tommy and 2BYU. They play a fusion of Hip-Hop, R&b, Kizomba, traditional and Ragga music and this music gives them an identity which is for them a “a blessing from the most high”.
