WINDHOEK– Whenever you engage with Mieke Droomer, it strikes you how intense and compassionate she is about what surrounds her. Her awareness to her environment and the conscious observation of life, her emotions, and her life comes through in her art.
Droomer is a South African artist who has been working in Namibia for over two years now, and according to her, Namibia has been a big influence on her artwork. “I’m inspired by everyday life and experience. My technique is different. Anyone can relate and connect to my paintings. It’s kind of a media of all the worlds and I am inspired by my inner being,” says Droomer.
With this almost innocent observation and pure expression of her mind, one calls to mind the Master Thich Nhat Hanh with his book and meditations on mindfulness. She paints and expresses from her core, from her total essence. Her art is truly hers, not being taken from somewhere, or looking at someone, purely Mieke. This is Mieke’s first public exhibition and she is well on her way to establishing herself as an artist in Namibia. The exhibition is currently running at the Pure & Simple Gallery until September 30. Entrance is free.
