Ministry extends livestock subsidy claims deadline

Ministry extends livestock subsidy claims deadline

EPUKIRO – The agriculture ministry has announced an extension to the submission deadline for livestock support programme subsidy claims.

Farmers now have until 30 April 2025 to submit their outstanding claims. The initial deadline was 30 March 2025.

A statement released on Monday by the Directorate of Agriculture Production, Extension and Engineering Services said farmers are urged to submit all outstanding claims for the period of 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025 at their nearest Agricultural Extension Office.

The subsidy programme includes various interventions, including livestock marketing incentives and subsidies for the transportation of livestock to and from grazing areas. Additionally, subsidies for lease of grazing, lick and fodder are included in the claims to be submitted.
The ministry has instructed extension officials to provide support to farmers so claims can be processed without delay.
“Only claims with all necessary mandatory supporting documents will be accepted,” the statement said.

The subsidy programme targets livestock producers raising cattle, goats and sheep. Eligible farmers will receive N$750 per large stock unit (cattle) for a maximum of 75 cattle. For small stock units (goats and sheep), the subsidy is N$150 per head, with a maximum of 375 goats and sheep, or a combination of both. -Nampa
