RUNDU – A 13-year-old girl was hideously killed when she was hit by a car whilst crossing the road at Ncamagoro village in Kavango West, some 35km west of Rundu along the Rundu- Grootfontein road.
According to the police the horrific accident happened on Thursday night at about 20h40. The driver of a Toyota sedan with a government registration number was driving towards Rundu from the direction of the Mururani checkpoint when he bumped the minor who was crossing the road. She died instantly, with her right leg amputated and was found a distance away from the rest of the body. Police say the deceased minor is Sindimba Rosa Kakuhu, a 13-year-old Grade 5 female learner at Ncamagoro Combined School and a resident of Ncamagoro village, where the accident occurred. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Mike Kamberuka Kasire, a member of the Namibian Defence Force from the Otjiwarongo army base but a resident of Sauyemwa informal settlement in Rundu.
The vehicle belongs to the Rundu Government Garage and a case of culpable homicide has been opened, now awaiting the prosecutor general’s decision.
