Miss NGO 2023 to be crowned in July

Entries for Miss Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) open on Thursday in view of crowning the new title holder in July.

The beauty pageant was founded in 2020 with the aim to provide a platform for empowering young women to contribute meaningfully to societal and economic development of Namibia, promote beauty with a purpose, empower girls to have confidence in themselves and provide platforms for girls to showcase their talents.

The first edition was held on 20 August 2021 and saw Hilde Shindodola crowned as winner.

The current title holder is Andeline Malilo Simbua, who was crowned in September last year.

Simbua said being a title holder of Miss NGO Namibia does not always mean dressing up and showing up at different places every time, as holding such a title requires hard work, commitment, sacrifice and time management.

“I am tested in the smallest ways every day without knowing. In this context, people are nice to you too, but don’t get their praises and compliments get to your brain,” she said.

Simbua highlighted that in her experience thus far as the Miss NGO Namibia 2022, she has become self-aware of her strengths, weaknesses and her limits.

“I have learned the importance of a crown to the community. It has made me grow up as an individual and I have gotten the chance to know myself better. It is indeed an honour bestowed upon any woman,” she said. vamutenya9@gmail.com
