WINDHOEK – The Katutura Magistrate’s Court could not proceed with the murder case of a 20-year-old woman on trial for allegedly killing her pensioner lover in February. The hearing failed to take place because the docket was not available.
Making an appearance before court from custody, Victoria Goreses was informed her case could not proceed as her docket was not at court for court proceedings.
The case was on the court roll for mental observation. Previously, the court issued a warrant of arrest against Goreses after she could not make it to court as scheduled because she was admitted at the Windhoek psychiatric hospital.
The 20-year-old had to undergo psychiatric evaluation for the court to determine if she was of sound mind when she committed the alleged crime.
Goreses was released from the psychiatric hospital a week before the murder.
During her previous appearance she appeared to be out of touch with reality.
Goreses faces a charge of murder for the death of her boyfriend Sakava Nathame, 70. The prosecution is charging that Goreses intentionally killed Nathame on February 25 on Ongava street in Okuryangava, Windhoek.
It is alleged Goreses fatally stabbed Nathame with a piece of broken mirror numerous time which subsequently resulted in his death. What caused Goreses to commit such a dreadful crime against her boyfriend is yet to be determined.
Magistrate Mutafela Likando postponed the case for the docket to be submitted to August 21, remanding Goreses in custody. The court cancelled the warrant of arrest that it previously issued against the accused.
