Namibian multi-genre singer, Nalimaanguluke Ndengu, popularly known as Mnali, has finally come out of hiding for ten years to continue with his musical career.
Well-known talented young artist, who stole many young hearts with his debut album, Nali Taliwaka in 2006, is back with a bang and under the new production of the Dope Boyz Note Studios. His new album titled The Tales of Mnali is expected to be released next week. “The content of the songs on this album are to conceptualise the tales of Namibian culture from the humble beginning,” says Mnali adding that cultural music has been mixed with modern sound to give the Namibian music industry a different taste.
The album contains eleven songs and he has produced it himself with Elvo and Araffat. The single song Be There, featuring Tequila, is already enjoying massive airplays and the local radio stations has been welcoming it well. The song was released a month ago as a foretaste of Mnali’s new offering. According to him, they have already shot a video of the song and it will soon be on aired on local television stations’ music programmes. The Afro Pop song talks about two people in love who are always there for each other.
Another song which may find a listening ear among music lovers is Dope, featuring Exit and the late Jacus Krige. “This song is just an introduction of Dope Boys Note Studios to the industry. We also decided to dedicate the song and the whole album to Jacus who passed on months ago for contributing to the foundation of Dope Boys,” says Mnali.
Oshimaliwa, a House dancing track, is about how people spend their money on unnecessary things. The song is also encouraging people to work hard for their deserved income. The album features big names such as Exit, Tequila, Tate Buti, Desmond, Kuku Nkandanga, Neslow and Jacus Krige.
Mnali started singing in 2004 while at the Ekulo Senior Secondary School in Omuthiya, Oshikoto region with Omzoo. He went solo in 2006 and released his first album which was received well by the public.
His focus with his new production is shooting more videos for songs on the album. He sees 2016 as a breakthrough for him. “We want to attain more artists to the production and actors and actresses as we have so many programmes under the production,” Mnali says.
Apart from music, Mnali has also joined forces with the Paradgm Shift Movement, to release short films based on stories focussing more on public education and matters affecting the youth. Their first film can be accessed on Mnali’s Facebook fan page. The films will be released monthly. The production is also planning to publish the first book on Mnali that will be named after the album and the production’s clothing line. “We feel privileged to work with artists that have been our role models,” he signs off.
