A mother and her daughter died on the spot Sunday evening when the vehicle they were travelling in overturned after ramming into a donkey.

The victims were allegedly thrown out of the vehicle when it overturned.

They were identified as Saima Magano Nangombe  (44) and her daughter Ainna Ndagwedha Shikongo, whose age is unknown, said the police spokesperson Ellen Nehale.

It is further alleged the son of the victim, who was also a passenger in the vehicle, fled the scene in what is thought to be an effect of trauma.

The police is still trying to locate him and ascertain the degree of injuries.

“The incident happened around 19h30 at Iihwali village in the Oshikoto region on the B1 road. Its alleged that a Silver Isuzu Pickup, with registration N161966W, and travelling from Ondangwa’s direction, carrying five passengers, bumped into a donkey that was standing on the road, causing the driver to lose control. Thereafter, the car rolled several times,” said Nehale.

Other occupants are identified as 33-year-old Eliakim Shihala (driver) and Kayelemani Stephanus (25), who only sustained minor injuries.

The victims’ next of kin have been informed.
