Top Namibian cyclist Vera Looser will be in action on Sunday at 14h00. She will compete in the women’s road race event.
This will not be the first time she participates in this prestigious tournament, having represented Namibia at the Olympics in 2016 and 2021.
She hopes to make the final cut this year, as she has failed to finish the race in both previous attempts.
This year’s women’s race will cover 157.6 kilometres and feature a total of 90 riders, likely taking around three hours.
Looser is expected to face tough competition from world champion and Belgium’s Lotte Kopecky as well as defending Tour de France champion Demi Vollering of Netherlands.
Namibia is represented by four athletes in the Olympics this year.
Alex Miller is unfortunately out of contention after injuring his right hand, which forced him to stop racing.
Marathon swimmer Phillip Seidler will compete on 9 August, while experienced long-distance runner, Helalia Johannes will take on her race on Sunday 11 August.
