By William Mbangula OSHAKATI Swapo Party Coordinator in the Oshana Region, Erastus Uutoni, says his party is making inroads into the support bases of opposition parties, mainly the CoD. In the welcoming remarks by Swapo Secretary-General, Dr Ngarikutuke Tjiriange, at a meeting of party leaders here, he said CoD members, including some prominent members, were flocking to Swapo. Only recently CoD Mobilizer, Gerasius Shilunga Taaru from Emono, joined Swapo. On Thursday, March 8, more CoD members from Oshana will be officially welcomed in the Swapo Party, Uutoni revealed. He did not mention their names or where they would come from since this would be announced at that occasion. On development activities in the region, Uutoni lauded the government for making some development activities possible such as the construction of constituency offices at Ompundja, Okatjali, Uukwiyushona, Uuvudhiya, Ondangwa, Eheke Secondary School, and provision of rural water and electricity to the communities. Five more constituencies still need proper office space such as Okatana, Ongwediva, Oshakati East, Okaku and Oshakati West. Uutoni noted that the region faces major challenges, among them the HIV/AIDS pandemic and youth unemployment. The Swapo Party Coordinator lashed out at the anonymous letter-writers in the newspapers such as “Ananias Nghifitikeko” whom he accused of trying to confuse the nation. “Nghifitikeko is now writing letters in Oshiwambo. “Such letters will not make sense to us. We are ready for them, as we have now matured politically. They (Nghifitikekos) can do their own thing in other regions but not in Oshana Region. Here we are prepared for them,” said Uutoni.
