ONGWEDIVA – Three of the armed robbers alleged to have attacked and murdered a Chinese businessman at his home in Rainbow Village earlier this month in Rundu were arrested in Oshana Region on Tuesday evening.
According to the Oshana Regional Commander, Commissioner Ndahangwapo Kashihakumwa the trio who fled from Rundu to seek refuge in Oshana were arrested while having dinner at a house in the Okandjengedi residential area of Ongwediva.
Kashihakumwa warned other perpetrators who are planning to commit crimes in other regions and then flee to Oshana that there is no hiding place for criminals in Oshana.
“It is a waste of time, there is no safe haven for criminals in Oshana Region. Even the walls in Oshana Region have eyes and ears,” emphasized Kashihakumwa
He applauded the community for their continuous support in always working hand in hand with the police to report the whereabouts of criminals and criminal activities.
“As usual we were tipped off by the general public and we appreciate the community’s efforts,” stated Kashihakumwa.
The robbers are alleged to have attacked and killed the 57-year-old Chinese national Gao Li early this month in Rundu.
It is alleged the thieves forcibly entered the Chinese man’s home through the bathroom window after cutting the burglar bars.
The robbers then beat the deceased before tying him up around his arms and legs with Sellotape.
The deceased who was the owner of the Panda shop in Rundu was alone at home at the time of the attack as his wife and children had travelled to China.
