Mr Makoya releases American flavoured ‘Almal’

Mr Makoya releases American flavoured ‘Almal’

Namibian musician Strauss Lunyangwe, popularly known as Mr Makoya, will today unveil his newest single, titled ‘Almal,’ which was recently recorded in the United States of America.

The term ‘Almal’ conveys a message of unity, encouraging individuals to come together, raise their hands high, and stand confidently despite any challenges they face.

Speaking to VIBEZ!, Mr Makoya said he aspires for this song to foster a sense of togetherness among people, prompting them to joyfully celebrate every small moment that life presents.

“Fans will be able to relate once they see the video about my growth from where it all started to where I am now. My journey in the industry has been remarkable and blessed, and to be able to still deliver and have people support me thus, I’m also hoping they make it a must to listen to as a December song since the festive season is upon us,” he said.

The multi-genre performer said prior to his performance in the United States, he resolved to document his journey, and what better method to achieve this than filming a music video during his time there?

“I mean, you only get once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to do it, so I decided to stay two weeks more after my performance just to shoot my music video,” said the musician.

Mr Makoya said the opportunity to explore a different region of the world and observe the local ways of life is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

He advises individuals to prioritise international travel in their lives to experience diverse cultures and settings. He also said he is continually contemplating his next steps as the year draws to a close, with the aspiration of completing the Soweto Remix video alongside Mabuza and Tuko. Should their schedules allow, he is also eager to collaborate on a video with DJ Siya and DJ Vuyo.

“I established good networking because that was the main aim of the trip. There is a Namibian community based there who are doing well and were willing to assist us here. So we’re seeing how best to strengthen our relationship going forward,” he said.

The new single ‘Almal’ is now accessible across all platforms, accompanied by its music video.

Mr Makoya showcased his talents at the annual Namibia Community Association Reunion held at the Galt Hotel, an event that brought together Namibians from various cities in the United States for a weekend of interaction, engagement on diverse topics, and enjoyment.

During the occasion, Mr Makoya performed several popular tracks from his third studio album, ‘Bly In Jou Baan’, including the song ‘Living Your Life’. Additionally, he had the privilege of unveiling the summer collection of his new clothing brand, Turastyle, which received a warm reception from patrons. The brand was initially launched in Namibia during spring.
