Strauss Lunyangwe, better known as Mr Makoya, is back with a brand-new music video that carries a strong message of unity, hope and homecoming.
The video, which features DJ Siya and DJ Vuyo, is set to be released soon.
Although the song was released some time ago, the artists finally found time in their busy schedules to shoot the video.
“The song is about calling our people back home in the Zambezi region and finding common ground to solve the problems we face in our region. We are known to be intelligent people, but sometimes we forget that if we work together, the results can be amazing for everyone,” Mr Makoya said.
The music video was brought to life by creative director Reyne Liswaniso, the man behind many of Namibia’s top music videos and the founder of Mad Boy Genius.
With his direction, the visuals promise to match the power of the song’s message.
What makes this project even more special is the collaboration itself.
“It was only a matter of time before we teamed up – three brilliant artists, one strong message,” he said
Besides music, Mr Makoya is also making waves in the fashion world.
His Turastyle clothing line is back with a fresh summer collection, themed ‘Make Something out of Nothing’.
This year’s line marks a big step forward.
Instead of selling only online, Turastyle will now be available in stores.
Shoppers can find it at Ragazzi Clothing Store in Wernhil and Black Chain in Katutura.
“We wanted to make Turastyle more accessible and give people the choice to support a local brand instead of a foreign one,” Mr Makoya said.
He added that the theme was inspired by the everyday hustle.
“We never back down. We always get back on our feet and make something out of nothing,” he remarked.
This year has already been busy for him.
He released music videos for ‘Celebrate’ (shot in Chicago), the ‘Soweto Remix’, featuring Mabuzza, as well as ‘Tuko’.
With the release of the new track featuring DJ Siya and DJ Vuyo, he is ending the year on a high note.
Mr Makoya has hinted at another international video filmed in the United States with L3kker.com and possibly even another international gig coming soon.
“Only time will tell,” he said with a smile.
