The need for economic stimulation and the importance of creating enabling platforms for business exhibitions last week saw Mobile Telecommunications Company (MTC) extend its corporate social responsibility to the //Kharas region by committing an amount of N$115 000 towards the successful hosting of the popular Lüderitz Crayfish Festival.
Positioning Lüderitz as a key contributor to the economic transformation of the region, the festival is a flagship business forum by the town council which promotes and facilitates local business development initiatives, and is a perfect opportunity for macro and micro enterprises to market and sell their offerings as well as exchange innovative business ideas.
MTC corporate affairs manager John Ekongo said the festival is arguably one of the fastest-growing in the country, and MTC is honoured to be contributing to its growth. “We recognise the growth attained by the Lüderitz Crayfish Festival over the years, and we are honoured to be part of the journey that unlocks settings which drive business and entrepreneurship for greater socio-economic welfare. We, therefore, thank the organising committee for allowing us to sponsor and be part of the event once again. This is the 8th time in a
row that we have partnered with the festival”, he noted.
Annually, the telco giant commits a total of N$875 000 in sponsorships to various trade shows across the country, permitting it to continue impacting the social and economic development initiatives positively.
Ekongo commended the leadership of the Lüderitz Town Council, while urging for an innovative approach to continue to grow and keep the festival relevant on the calendar.
“We have witnessed the transformative growth of the festival, and we expect the organisers to perpetually embrace innovation in order to keep attracting Namibians to the coastal town,” he added.
