By Kuvee Kangueehi WINDHOEK The outstanding Mobile Telecommunication Limited (MTC) NFA Cup second round matches will be played tonight at the Sam Nujoma stadium in Katutura. Meanwhile, Sydney Plaatjies looks set to become one of the club’s new acquisitions ahead of the 2006/2007 season. The Namibian international midfielder appears to have impressed during trials in the last couple of months, and could be signing the dotted line this week. Team Manager Kwezi Masondo confirmed the development, saying: “We are satisfied with Sydney’s quality and we have offered to sign him on a two-year contract after agreeing terms.” Plaatjies, an attacking midfielder from Namibia’s Blue Waters FC, has five international caps and three goals to his credit. The history of JCFC reflects the general history of soccer in this country. This PSL team managed to stand the test of time and has shown good results and achievements that constitute the reason why JCFC remains the soccer force it is. It began in the early sixties with the formation of Highlands Park, renamed Jomo Cosmos FC (JCFC) in 1982 and formally owned by Jomo Sono. Jomo Sono is synonymous with all that is good about the sport both at home and abroad. The need to sell players due to lack of financial resources has led to JCFC being known to soccer administrators as the University of Soccer. Through the years the team has built up a tremendous amount of goodwill which in turn adds value to the brand name Impressive list of players groomed by Jomo Sono mainly from the U20 Team and going on to represent South Africa as part of the Bafana Bafana squad include: Aaron Mokoena, Alfred Phiri, Lebogang Morula, Mark Williams, Mark Fish, Helman Makhelele, Philamon Masinga, Linda Buthelezi, Oupa Khomane, The late Sizwe Motaung, Eric September , Vusi Mncwanga, Edward Motale, Thomas Madigage, Pitso Mosimane and Augustine Makalakalane Friday Cymot SKW vs United Africa Tigers 19h00 Sam Nujoma Stadium WO Ramblers vs African Stars 21h00 Sam Nujoma Stadium
