Katima Mulilo will be the focal point this weekend, as the second round of the topflight MTC Volleyball league resumes at the Unam Katima Mulilo Campus.
Revivals Volleyball Club are the reigning champions in the women’s division, having clinched the inaugural title.
Namibia Correctional Service (NCS) stylishly claimed the men’s title without suffering a single loss. In a brief conversation with New Era Sport, Tobias Mwatelulo expressed excitement about the resumption of the topflight league after months of inactivity, anticipating top-tier volleyball action this coming Saturday.
“I believe all the teams had ample time to reset. This weekend will be very interesting for volleyball fans in the region. Everything is ready. Now, we just need to wait for Saturday and enjoy some top volleyball action,” he said.
Adding his perspective on the preparations, league CEO Festus Hamukwaya noted that teams are ready. The addition of new teams is increasing the competition.
“So far so good. All teams are geared up. This year, with the boost of teams like Afrocat and Unam Queens, the competition will be tough. It won’t be business as usual. The league launch will be done in Otjiwarongo next month during round 3, where we will have more games,” he said.
The men’s division features teams such as NCS, Unam Hard Hitters, Namibian Defence Force (NDF) Raptors, Keetmanshoop Correctional Facility, Namibian Police (Nampol), Calvary Eagles, Afrocat and Mighty Gunners. We have put in all the work to ensure we remain ready this Saturday. All our top players are available for this weekend. The mood in the camp is good. Everyone is excited to hit the ground running,” he added.
