ONGWEDIVA – Paulus Mulunga and his co-accused Nekwaya Namene were released on bail of N$1 000 in the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court on Friday after spending close to a week in police custody.

Mulunga and Namene were charged with malicious damage to property, assault through threatening and crimen injuria. The duo allegedly broke the right mirror of the vehicle of the complainant Simon Kanepolo Mulunga.

In addition they allegedly also insulted and threatened the complainant but contrary to an earlier report they did not beat their victim.

Namene was further charged with malicious damage to property.

Their sister Anna Mulunga was charged with defamation of character after an exchange of vulgarities with their cousin Teckla Imbili.

They also face a charge of maliciously damaging a cellphone by breaking its screen after they threw it onto the ground, causing damage of about N$1 000.

The drama unfolded shortly after a meeting over an inheritance with the Ondangwa Traditional Authority ended in a deadlock.

Paulus Mulunga Jnr who is named after his late father Paulus Mulunga Snr related that they lodged a case with the Ondonga Traditional Authority to request their uncle Kanepolo to hand over a piece of land situated at Onyaanya.

“What led to lodging the case with the Ondonga Traditional Authority (OTA) was the fact that we felt we had exhausted the route of informally talking to our uncle and asking him to hand over our late dad’s piece of land in Onyaanya. We had informally verbally asked him to hand over the piece of land,” said Paulus Mulunga jnr
The piece of land houses a residence and business premises that operated as a supermarket and bottle store.
