Municipality has hands Full fixing potholes

Home Front Page News Municipality has hands Full fixing potholes

By Donna Collins
POTHOLES,  cracks and rain damaged roads are just some of the problems Windhoek’s infrastructure is facing after the heavy downpour lately, but the public can rest assured that the Windhoek  Municipality is attending to this matter as an extreme case of emergency and that they have their hands full with complaints.

Already on Monday extra teams were employed and distributed amongst the road contractors to get started on the major problem areas, and according to Dirk Reed (Roads & Storm water Department) they have a lot of work on their hands.

“The continuous wet conditions have played havoc with the roads all over town, and it is going to be quite expensive to fix up, ” he said.

“The Municipality have not budgeted for this type of road damage, but we have the road maintenance funds set aside for this purpose.”

He requested the public to report potholes in their parts of town, as it is not possible for the Municipality to detect all the road damage, and they will get someone onto it as soon as possible.  Contact 2902333 Roads & Storm water.
