The knockout round of the Cell One Road to Fame musical talent show started in the capital this week with all the regional winners competing for top honours.
Since August last year, the Cell One roadshow has been criss-crossed the country in search of a new and undiscovered singing voice.
“This project has proven to be bigger than expected. Through the event 13 unique creative people were identified as regional finalists. These finalists have been patiently waiting for the roadshow part of the project to end,” said Rejoice Itembu in a press statement.
The contestants for the final round are: Khwezi Haosemas (Kunene), Yolanda Saul (Omaheke), Ricardo Shaningua (Ohangwena), Biona Machana (Caprivi), Susanna Eiman (Hardap), Erika Tjioungwa (Otjozondjupa), David Jacobs (Oshikoto), Donovan van Schalkwyk (Khomas), Hilkka Shambwila (Omusati), Nelson Nagenda (Karas), Elizabeth Shakujungua (Oshana), Sara Nghilundilua (Kavango).
The contestants have been guided through their paces by seasoned professionals in the entertainment industry such as jazz musician Dennis Eiseb, (music director) Stanley Mareka and Phiro Links (choreographers), Isaac Chikosi (vocal coach), Mara Baumgartner (chaperone) and the band, G3 (training the performers).
“Every Monday and Thursday nights are judging events. Through this process each alternative week two or three contestants will leave the show. On May 13 the remaining three contestants will return to their home towns for a two-week break to prepare for the final concert on May 30 in the Eliam Namundjebo Plaza,” she said.
