RUNDU – A Mpungu Vlei-born virsually impaired musician Paulus Mbimbi has released a musical album heaping praise on the Swapo presidential candidate Dr Hage Geingob.

Geingob the Swapo vice-president is widely seen as the forerunner in the poll set for November.

The campaign album is available at Swapo offices in both Kavango East and Kavango West regions.

“I have a talent to compose and sing songs. I usually do gospel music but can also sing other genres and have been doing this for 13 years,” Mbimbi says about his musical talent.

“For the past 14 years ago I have been writing music about the struggle for independence but never released them but in 2013 I decided to write about Comrade Geingob and now I have released this album,” Mbimbi narrated.

Mbimbi who lives in Mpung Vlei village says making music is what he does the best since he is blind and he has been unable to get a job.
“I also do gospel music to educate others about the Bible,’’ he said and was quick to add: “I haven’t released any political songs yet and this will be my first political album.

“I did get some assistance from different family members and community members and I also got help from other supportive individuals like from Sofia Muyenga who is the Kavango East governor’s secretary, She helped me a lot and also the Governor of Kavango West Sirkka Ausiku, who assisted me in many ways,” Mbimbi said.

The album has six tracks and among the hit songs is a track entitled “Comrade Geingob,” and a track called “Emanguruko” meaning independence, while the other favourites are tracks 4 and 6 that encourage people to vote for Geingob.

“Hage Geingob still doesn’t know about the album unless he was told by the Swapo secretary general Nangolo Mbumba since he also offered support. I have spent a lot on this album and thus hope to sell some albulms so that I can recoup some of the money that I pumped into this album,” he said.

The virsually impaired musician “would like to meet Comrade Hage Geingob one day”.

The album can be found at the Swapo branch offices in Kavango East and Kavango West.
