The Fund on Wheel campaign engages communities in the Hardap Region to bring services closer to the people by increasing road safety awareness and educating the public about the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (MVA)’s mandate, benefits, and claims process.
The week-long community engagement campaign began on Monday, 3 March, and is expected to conclude tomorrow 8 March 2025.
“The MVA Fund decided to take services closer to the communities in the region to mitigate the challenges of incomplete claims, which could lead to repudiation if all the necessary documents are not submitted within the prescribed one-year deadline,” said the Fund’s CEO Rosalia Martins-Hausiku.
She indicated that the team is also conducting public education and awareness sessions through direct engagement and mass media.
Martins-Hausiku said the community outreach team is visiting Gibeon, Aranos, Stampriet, Maltahoe, Kalkrand, and Mariental to conduct school activations at various schools.
“Members of these communities are urged to engage so that they can learn more about their entitlements to MVA Fund benefits and services,” she indicated.
The Fund has held outreach programmes in ||Kharas, Kunene, Zambezi where they visited Bukalo, Ngoma, Masokotwane, Sangwali, Mubiza, and Kongola.
The Fund is heavily informed by road crash statistics in determining where to hold an outreach session where they engage community members on road-related matters.
MVA Fund has consistently been calling on Namibians to participate in its weeklong outreach programmes and promote road safety.
The outreach’s emphasis is on pedestrian, passenger, and tyre safety. Among other things, the MVA Fund visits schools to encourage safe driving and bus terminals by educating passengers and drivers about vehicle safety and roadworthiness.
