The Namibia Airports Company (NAC) has thrown its weight behind the Dr Hage Geingob Football Cup by availing a staggering N$500 000 for each of the two editions.
Toska Sem, Strategic Executive: Business Strategy at NAC, has said: “The NAC is a Namibian company and football is a game loved by Namibians. When NAC was approached to support last year, it presented us with a fantastic opportunity to honour the legacy of His Excellency while supporting an initiative that goes a long way in nation building.
“Football remains the number one sport of unity in our country and it’s evidenced in the wide and wild celebrations of the recent success of the Brave Warriors, champions of COSAFA 2015. The more competitions we have, the better for our footballers. So, we believe our investment in this social event is worthwhile.”
Sem added that NAC aimed at making a further difference in the lives of ordinary citizens, notably footballers who benefit from appearance fees by participating in the competition and, of course, the general public who would see great football featuring cross-border superstars.
“Again, touching the lives of Namibians and our brothers and sisters across the borders of Namibia is indispensable for us. Being part of this Cup is a fulfilling mission for us as we, together with others, like to create memories and share them with whoever is interested in a positive change,” concluded Sem.
