WINDHOEK– Nigerian artist, Sam Opute,  aka Naija Boy, who has been doing music in Namibia for quiet sometime now,  has renamed himself “Mr Kuality’ after announcing that he will be returning to his home town to introduce house music to the Nigerian music scene.

“I joined entertainment in Namibia, and this is my second home. But I now need to go back home to meet their standards. I’m taking house music to my country, which is something new,” says Mr Kuality. He is a determined and energetic musician signed under Sustones Records with a huge hunger for different genres such as a fusion of Nigerian and southern African vibes, namely House, Kwaito and Pepero. His brand of music is called the Naija Style. “Everything you do should have a passion. People recognise an artist from promotions and social networks but as long as you do good music, people will listen to you. We appreciate our music and that’s how we grew,” he says.

Mr Kuality encourages local artists to always present and maintain a good image. “Looking good is very important. Go to the gym and stay fit, so that you can get more opportunities. This will be the key to your dreams, package yourself because if you look good and your music is speaking for you, then you will make it. Also remember that if you put God first, then success will be your lifestyle and you will smile all the way to the bank all the time,” he says.

Mr Kuality hopes to do future collaborations on his album with local artists such as Gazza, Lady May and The Dogg, as well as with fellow Nigerian artists like D’banj, Wiz Kid and Davido. He is currently busy with his debut album to be released before the end of the year.
