WINDHOEK– After a vigorous audition process which started last year, the Namibian Annual Music Awards Executive Committee has finally announced the men and women who will present this year’s NAMAS.

The NAMAS Executive Chairperson, Tim Ekandjo, says  over 70 people participated in the auditions which took place in three phases. “I am therefore happy that the organising committee invested time to select the very best from the crop that participated and showed interest in hosting Namibia’s biggest musical celebration, he says.

The NAMAS will be celebrated over two nights with the “NAMA Industry Awards” taking place on May 2 and the main event taking place May 3.

Pombili Shilongo and Tshoopara Chops Tshoopara will be directing The Nama Industry Awards on the night. Pombili is the current Presenter of the popular music show on the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC)’s  TV, Whatagwan.  He has a diploma in Television Production, Script writing and Directing and is currently the Social Media Manager at NBC and Production Assistant while Tshoopara is currently the Managing Director of Liquid Events Namibia with vast experience in the entertainment industry.

The main awards ceremony will be presided over  by Ashwyn Mberi and Josy Nghipandua as directors of ceremonies. Mberi  is currently a drama student at the University of Namibia (UNam), doing poetry and acting as well as a TV presenter for the NBC Business Show, while Nghipandua  is a Radio Presenter and Producer at Energy 100FM with a law degree and pursuing a degree in media studies.

The NAMAS Industry Awards are by invitation but members of the public can buy tickets for the main awards for N$ 500 (VIP) and N$250 (standard). Tickets are available at Compu ticket (at any Shoprite Checkers or Woerman Brock) outlets countrywide.
