Shuuya Victoria is the Best Overall Namibia College of Open Learning (NAMCOL) learner and Kamato Josef as the Best Overall Pete Candidate on NSSCO level.
NAMCOL held its prize-giving ceremony last Thursday where pupils were awarded for their astonishing performances in the Junior Secondary Certificate (JSC) and Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate Ordinary Level (NSSCO) 2015 Examinations.
Amongst the top achievers was Linekela Jonas who was awarded as the Best Overall Namcol Candidate on NSSCO level and Viegas Ariane, the Best Overall on JSC.
Shuuya was rewarded with N$ 8000 as well as scholarship by NAMCOL to his first year registration and tuition at any institution of higher learning of his choice. The glittery event took place at the Yetu Yama Centre in Katutura where senior government officials, senior members of NAMCOL and sponsors were in attendance.
Smiling winners received cash prizes ranging from N$500 to N$8 000 and a few sponsorships from various companies were handed out.
The 15 NAMCOL pupils who were recognized for their excellence introduced themselves to the packed venue with their teachers and family members proudly looking on.
During the ceremony, the Director of NAMCOL, Heroldt Murangi, said enrolments have increased over the years and to date more than 547 444 Namibians have enrolled at the institution. “This figure excludes the 2016 enrolments,” said Murangi.
The prize-giving ceremony was officially established in 2010 to encourage weak performing pupils to work harder.
